Soutenance de thèse Angelos Triantafyllidis
Soutenance par Angelos TRIANTAFYLLIDIS de sa thèse "Laser-Produced Magnetized Plasmas: Heat Transport and Blast Waves".
The thesis subject addresses the influence of magnetic fields on the properties of laser-produced plasmas. Specifically, I investigate how heat transport and blast wave dynamics are modified in the presence of a strong magnetic field. In the first part of my presentation, I discuss experimental results that demonstrate heat flux inhibition, reduced preheat, and higher temperatures when a magnetic field of up to 20 T is applied, with significant implications in the context of inertial confinement fusion. The second part of my work is related to the propagation of blast waves in external magnetic fields. Depending on the orientation of the field, the blast wave propagation is modified, and its morphology can be used to interpret features observed in supernova remnants. Finally, a Zeeman effect diagnostic that allows non-intrusive measurements of the local magnetic field is presented.
